Bilbao Seriesland is an international festival and marketplace dedicated to web series, held in the city of Bilbao, Spain. This event focuses on the promotion and celebration of independent web series from around the world, providing a platform for emerging and established creators to present their work, interact with other industry professionals and access new distribution and funding opportunities.
The Bilbao Seriesland festival generally takes place between October and November each year. However, the specific dates may vary from year to year. In 2024 it will be held from 5 to 10 November.
In Bilbao Seriesland, the categories cover a wide variety of formats such as conventional series, independent series, short productions, web documentaries (webdocs), webvlogs, webshows, and influencer content channels.
There are three main ways to participate in Bilbao Seriesland:
- Submitting your Web Series: If you are a digital content creator, you can participate by registering through
Digificc Competition:
- This is a short creator residency, where scriptwriters or showrunners will have the opportunity to grow their project through workshops, mentoring and other activities. They will have the opportunity to pitch in front of industry executives. You can get more information and sign up here
Trailer xpress competition:
- Open to all audiences. Participants will have 72 hours to create their work. Registration can be done at the following link
In Bilbao Seriesland, there is no length limitation, however, we give a higher priority to web series that are presented in short format
In Bilbao Seriesland, you can participate with one or more web series. The festival offers the opportunity to highlight multiple works if you wish, as long as each series meets the guidelines and criteria established for participation.
At Bilbao Seriesland, unfortunately we cannot guarantee the cost of accommodation for all guests. We recommend staying in the Casco Viejo area, given its proximity to the festival venue. If you have any questions or need specific recommendations for accommodation, please do not hesitate to contact the festival organisers at

The festival takes place in the city of Bilbao. Specifically, the main venues include Bilborock, the Guggenheim Museum, and Biscaitik. For more information, please refer to our VENUES section.
If you attend the festival, your series will be screened. If you cannot attend in person, we cannot guarantee the screening of all series, but you will participate through our metaverse platform if you selected that option during registration.
We will strive to make your stay as memorable as possible by inviting you to participate in a small roundtable to share your experiences with other attendees, thus giving greater visibility to your series.
Additionally, we offer spaces where you can meet other producers and distributors who can help take your project to the next level.
First, several days packed with activities. By submitting your series, you and all representatives who register will have many activities and free passes. During the festival, we offer free tourist and networking activities. We will do a walking tour of Bilbao, a boat party seeing Bilbao from the river, invite you to some pintxos, and host evening networking caterings, creating unforgettable moments to connect with filmmakers and producers from around the world.
We will also arrange networking activities and speed meetings. We will share your contact information and series with producers and distributors, offering them the opportunity to meet with you, hoping for some magic to happen!
Bilbao is a vibrant city known for its rich culture, stunning architecture, and delicious cuisine. During the festival, you can expect a mix of film screenings, networking events, and city tours. The weather in November can be cool and rainy, so pack warm clothing and an umbrella. Comfortable shoes are essential for exploring the city. Don’t forget your business cards and any promotional materials for your projects. Enjoy Bilbao’s unique blend of tradition and modernity!
Bilbao offers a variety of attractions for visitors. You can explore the iconic Guggenheim Museum, known for its modern art and unique architecture, and where our AWARD CEREMONY will be held! Stroll through the Casco Viejo (Old Town) to experience traditional Basque culture, including local shops and pintxo bars. The city’s riverside offers beautiful views and parks, while Mount Artxanda provides a scenic overlook of the entire area. Don’t miss the Azkuna Zentroa cultural center and the historic Plaza Nueva. Enjoy Bilbao’s blend of history, art, and natural beauty!
Beyond Bilbao, Bizkaia boasts a stunning coastline with picturesque beaches and charming fishing villages like Getxo and Bermeo. Visit the majestic San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a dramatic hermitage perched on a rocky island. The Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve offers lush landscapes and wildlife, perfect for nature enthusiasts. Don’t miss the chance to explore the cultural and historical gems of Gernika, including the Peace Museum. With its rich heritage and natural beauty, Bizkaia provides a diverse and enriching experience for all visitors.
Basque content participants (those from Euskal Herria, in Basque, or with a significant cultural connection to Euskadi) will have additional advantages:
– 100% free registration: Participants will receive 100% free registration for the competition as long as they register through FilmFreeway.
– Direct selection to international partner festivals: Basque content participants may be selected by our international partner festivals for direct selection to their competitions.
– Best Basque Series Award: The best Basque series will win selection and travel and accommodation paid for by the German festival and market DIE SERIALE.
– Special media exposure: Basque content participants will receive special media exposure, promoting interviews and visibility for Basque creations.
– Screening and roundtable participation: In addition to their screening, Basque content participants will have the opportunity to attend with part of the team or cast for interviews during the festival and participate in a small roundtable to discuss their work.
